What You See Is Not Always What You Get.

One original restaurant photograph becomes a visual argument about authority, expectation, and the experience on the table.

Reading the composition

The claim lives in the contrast.

01

Purpose

Visualize the gap between a polished online promise and the dish that arrives at the table.

02

Audience

Student travelers who use restaurant pages, food photos, rankings, and guide recognition to make a quick choice.

03

Design choices

The phone and Michelin Guide page signal authority; the real bowl in the foreground complicates that promise. Image textures inside SEE and GET connect the words directly to expectation and reality.

04

Tools

An original restaurant photograph, Canva, brightness and contrast adjustments, masking, image-filled type, and a phone webpage captured at the meal.

Reflection

Revising the piece simplified the message and strengthened its typographic hierarchy. The poster then became the visual foundation for the later field guide: look beyond the polished signal, compare what is missing, and choose with more context.
